How family alerts opt-in works
Effective date: October 17, 2026
This page shows how people agree to get text messages from Text Lamb, with the exact messages we send. It's public, and you don't need an account to read it.
- Family members can't be added without their own YES.
- We never buy, rent or share phone numbers.
- Consent to receive Text Lamb Family Alerts is not a condition of any purchase.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
Who Text Lamb Family Alerts is for
Text Lamb is an AI text-message assistant for older adults ("the senior"). If the senior wants, they can choose up to 3 family contacts to get a short heads-up by text when the senior hasn't answered a daily check-in or hasn't confirmed a reminder, or, when the senior asks, an FYI that a message they got looked like a scam. These texts come from Text Lamb's Family Alerts number. They are never marketing, and they never name a medicine.
The examples below use Ruth (the senior) and Sarah (a family member Ruth chooses). They are examples only.
Family alerts: double opt-in, step by step
Step 1. The senior asks Lamb to add a family contact
In their own chat with Lamb, the senior asks Lamb to add a family contact and gives that person's name and US mobile number. Only the senior can do this, and only up to 3 contacts. A family member can't add themselves.
Example, in Ruth's chat with Lamb:
Step 2. We send one confirmation request
Text Lamb sends Sarah one confirmation request from Text Lamb's Family Alerts number:
Step 3. Nothing else is sent unless they reply YES
If Sarah doesn't reply, or replies NO or STOP, Sarah never gets an alert. We don't send another request unless Ruth asks us to again.
Step 4. After YES, we confirm
When Sarah replies YES, we record the time and the message, and send:
Step 5. Either of them can stop it at any time
Ruth can ask Lamb to remove Sarah at any time. Sarah can reply STOP at any time.

Frequency and cost
- Message frequency varies. Family contacts only hear from us when the senior misses a check-in or reminder, or asks us to pass on a scam FYI. Check-in and reminder alerts aren't sent between 9 PM and 8 AM in the senior's time zone.
- Message and data rates may apply. Text Lamb doesn't charge for these messages.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
The senior's own opt-in
The senior's own chat with Lamb is separate from Family Alerts. It runs over iMessage through our messaging provider, Linq (or RCS or SMS when iMessage isn't available), not from Text Lamb's Family Alerts number. The senior agrees in one of two ways:
- Signing up on textlamb.com. The signup form has a checkbox that reads:
- Replying YES. If someone else signed the senior up (for example, a grown child), that person's checkbox covers only their own number. Lamb sends the senior one message asking whether they'd like Lamb's help. Nothing is set up until the senior replies YES themselves. If they reply NO or STOP, nothing is set up and Lamb doesn't text them again.
You must be 18 or older to use Text Lamb or to be a family contact.
